Zoo Makes Bamboo Cane Plea

Dudley Zoo is appealing for unwanted bamboo garden canes for the thousands of insect species across its 40 acre site.

The Zoo says they play an important role in the eco-system, and wants to encourage them by building bug friendly hotels.

Conservation Officer Chris Leeson sez the hollow stems of the canes make ideal shelters for insects and they’re particularly good for solitary bees too.
