Katie Boulter the latest Briton knocked out of Wimbledon after shock defeat to Tyra Caterina Grant

Katie Boulter is out of Wimbledon after losing to teenage qualifier Tyra Caterina Grant.

The 29-year-old was the country's best hope at the tournament after 10 Brits were knocked out on Monday.

But the British number two was comprehensively swept aside by Grant, 18, in a 6-4 6-2 defeat.

The crushing loss, on Court Three, was over in just one hour and six minutes.

Grand Slam debutant Grant had trained with fellow Italian Jannik Sinner as a child, and has been likened to all-time great Serena Williams.

Boulter could not read her serves and failed to create a single break point.

But Katie Swan halted the exodus of home players at Wimbledon on Tuesday by reaching round two with a 6-4 6-4 win over Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu.

On Monday, there were a record 10 British players knocked out of the competition.

Among them was Cameron Norrie, who lost his first-round match to world number 144 Michael Zheng.

The British men's number one was defeated in a fifth-set tiebreak by Zheng, losing 6-7 (7) 6-2 6-7 (2) 6-3 7-6 (10/4).

It is the worst set of results for British players since daily records began in 2000.

To make matters worse, fan favourites Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper have also pulled out with injuries.
