Murder investigation under way after human remains found in woodland in Feltham

A murder investigation has been launched after human remains were found in Feltham, west London.

The Metropolitan Police were called to a wooded area near Padstow Walk on Wednesday following reports of bones being discovered there.

They have now been confirmed as human.

It's unclear how long the remains have been there but a post-mortem held on Monday suggests they belong to a woman aged between 25 and 45.

The Metropolitan Police said inquiries to confirm her identity were continuing.

The area where the remains were found is known locally as The Pits and is just over a mile south of Heathrow Airport.

The woodland remained taped off on Friday and police cars were parked nearby.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley said: "We have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of these remains and are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened while keeping an open mind."

He urged anyone with information to call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
