Armed robber sentenced to 11 years after threatening Dudley cabbie

An armed robber who threatened a taxi driver with a knife has been jailed for 11 years after officers tracked him down within an hour.

Khaleel Hart demanded £80 from the cabbie after being dropped off in Maple Road, Wrens Nest, Dudley, on 1 February this year. Police were alerted to the robbery and quick-time enquiries established the 22-year-old robber was likely to be at the Station Hotel on Castle Hill.

He was indeed there and arrested, but became aggressive and assaulted four officers before he was taken into custody.

Hart, of no fixed address, was convicted of robbery and was jailed for 11 years at Wolverhampton Crown Court last Thursday. He was sentenced to four months for the assaults at a previous hearing.
