Dudley's Council House to be lit up for Ukraine

Dudley Council House will be lit in blue and yellow tonight to mark Ukraine Independence Day.

The local authority will also fly the emblematic Ukrainian flag from the building in Priory Road tomorrow as a symbol of solidarity. Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said:

"The people of Ukraine will mark their Independence Day on August 24 - 32 years since declaring independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

"At a time when they are continuing to fight for their freedom, we are proud to show our support and solidarity for their ongoing efforts by lighting up the council house and flying the yellow and blue flag.

"I hope it will serve as a reminder to us all that it has now been 18 months since Russia’s invasion."
