Halesowen man charged after impersonating police officer

A man has been charged with damaging a pensioner’s car and then posing as a police officer to try and search his Halesowen home.

Jamil Aslam is alleged to have committed criminal damage in Grange Road on 7 February this year then returned to the 71-year-old man's address a day later impersonating a cop.
 
The 44-year-old is also alleged to have posed as a detective and distracted staff at the BP Service Station, Pedmore Road, Lye, ahead of a knifepoint robbery on 10 February.
 
Aslam, of Chapel Street, Lye, has been charged with 12 offences in total including burglary, robbery, impersonating a police officer and driving offences.
 
He appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 13 March.
