Kinver residents invited to take part in referendum on the future of planning policy

A neighbourhood plan has been drawn up by a steering group which, should it be approved by referendum, will influence planning in Kinver Parish.

The referendum will take place on Thursday 24th August at the Edward Marsh Centre in Legion Drive. Poll cards will be sent to Kinver residents in early August with residents urged to register to vote by Tuesday 8th August. Voter ID will be required to vote at the polling station.

Neighbourhood plans are a way of helping local communities to influence the planning of their local area. They are led and written by the community, but must be in line with both national, and local planning policies in their planning council’s Local Plan.

The Kinver Neighbourhood plan has been examined by an independent planning inspector. It is now up to Kinver residents to decide if they are happy with the plan, through the referendum.

If 50% of those voting support the plan, with a ‘yes’ vote, it will be brought into force by South Staffordshire Council as part of their legal planning framework.
