A dog who’s become so successful in helping children to read, has been made an honorary member of staff at a school in Halesowen.
Maggie, a 10-year-old Shih Tzu, sits in on lessons while pupils read and talk to her, and now has her own staff badge at Earls High school.
The idea of getting children to read to dogs in order to improve their literacy was first tried out in the UK five years ago.
