New play area on the cards for Pensnett Community Centre

More than £32,000 could soon be invested to create a new play area in Pensnett.

The proposal to install the play equipment at Pensnett Community Centre on the High Street follows consultation with residents and ward members.

It will be funded by £32,017 of Section 106 money, which comes from developers who are undertaking work in the borough. The investment in the play facility follows extensive consultation with local residents over the most suitable location.

Further discussions with the community centre committee, along with other user groups will then determine the type of equipment to be installed. Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for environment, said:

"Section 106 money, which comes from developers who are undertaking work in the borough, is a great way for us to be able to invest and transform facilities in local communities.

"We work with community groups to determine the best use of the money and wherever possible ensure it’s spent in the same ward where the developments took place. This sounds an exciting proposal for Pensnett and I would like to thank the community for getting so involved in the consultation.”

If approved, work on the play area is expected to start next spring.
