Police Review Of Carl Bridgewater Murder Due In March

The findings of a review of evidence in the unsolved 1978 murder of paperboy Carl Bridgewater will be revealed in March, Staffordshire police say.

It follows a TV documentary that queried an alibi given to police at the time by a man who was later jailed for a separate shooting.

Carl was 13 when he was shot in the head at point-blank range while delivering newspapers at Yew Tree Farm, Prestwood near Stourbridge. It’s thought he disturbed a burglary.

Four men were convicted of Carl's murder and jailed in 1979. Their convictions were overturned 18 years later amid concerns about police evidence.
