Public Urged To Use Their Vote

People are being urged to use their vote in the general election next month.

The deadline for people in the Dudley borough to register for the national election on June 8 has passed.

If anyone is unable to get to a polling station on June 8 they can apply to appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf. The deadline for receipt of proxy appointments is 5pm on Wednesday 31 May. Sarah Norman, chief executive and returning officer at Dudley Council, said:

“Voting is so important because it gives people a say on a range of issues that affect people’s everyday lives. If you miss the chance to vote, you are not part of the democratic process.”

All application forms should be sent to Electoral Services, Old Crown Court, Priory Street, Dudley, DY1 1EY.

Residents can get an application for a proxy vote by contacting the local electoral registration office on 01384 814740 or from yourvotematters.co.uk. People can also ring the same number if they have not received their poll card.
