More than 76 per cent of parents have been offered a place at their first choice of secondary school for their child – the highest percentage ever in Sandwell.

Parents applying for school places were notified on 1st March of which school their child will be starting in September 2021.

More than 91 per cent of parents have been offered one of their top three choices, and those who didn’t get one of those choices are still offered a place for their child at another Sandwell school.

The places offered this year show an increase in the number of parents getting their first choice. Councillor Joyce Underhill, cabinet member for best start in life, said:

"More than 4,700 children have been offered a school place at one of their parents' top choice of secondary schools.

“With more than 91 per cent of parents getting one of their top choices of school, we know the vast majority will be very happy with their school place offer in Sandwell."
