Dudley Zoo’s had a timely birth just ahead of Mother’s Day as one of its ring-tailed lemurs has delivered her 12th baby.
The busy 15 year-old mum gave birth to her latest offspring in Lemur Wood on Wednesday night and was out and about in the one-acre walkthrough exhibit the next morning with her newborn. Curator Richard Brown, said:
“Phoebe is a very experienced mum and she and baby are doing really well. Within hours of the birth she was out in the wood and delighting visitors who were able to get a close look of our latest zoo arrival.”
The baby will stay attached to mum for the next few weeks and keepers will have to wait a while to find out if it’s a boy or girl.
