Sandwell's youth offending service has been praised by government inspectors and received an overall rating of 'Good' following their recent visit to the service.
The report was welcomed by Councillor Simon Hackett, cabinet member for children’s services in Sandwell. He said:
“The inspectors who visited the youth offending service recently were clearly impressed with the work being done with our young people in Sandwell.
“I know the staff work well with partners, including the council, and use a variety of approaches to engage young people and work hard to reduce re-offending.
“I am very pleased the service is listening to young people and their parents and carers and that this shapes the approach they take.
“I want to thank the hard-working staff involved in getting this rating and I’m confident, with the feedback from inspectors, the youth offending service will continue to improve.
“This report proves that Sandwell Children’s Trust has made a great start and is making a difference to better the lives of our young people.”
