A Black Country family have told of their terror after a passenger plane flying them to Birmingham from Malaga was followed by a French fighter jet.

Sarah Hatfield, from Quarry Bank, was travelling with her husband and daughter when passengers spotted the aircraft, which flew alongside them on Friday.

She said some passengers were excited by the sight, but said it unnerved others on board the plane, which landed without incident.

A spokesman for Jet2, which operated the flight, said it was awaiting for clarification from French authorities as to why the jet was apparently tracking its aircraft.
