Walsall boxing victim dies in hospital

A 19-year-old who was attacked at a boxing event in Walsall has died in hospital.

The victim, named locally as Reagan Asbury, was admitted to hospital with a neck injury after the violence spilled out onto the street around 11.30pm on Saturday night.

Detective Inspector Ian Wilkins is leading the investigation, which is now being treated as murder.

Several streets in the town were closed to traffic and Walsall Library was closed for the day as it fell within the cordon.

A further boxing event planned for last night was cancelled by the promoters.
